Meet Spiro Cheriogotis
A Career
Built on service
After earning his Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law, Spiro began his legal career as a prosecutor for the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office. There, he worked tirelessly to protect the citizens of Mobile County and ensure justice was served.
Spiro’s dedication to fairness led him to expand his experience as a defense attorney, providing him with a well-rounded perspective on the criminal justice system. In 2018, Spiro was elected to serve as a District Court Judge for Mobile County, a role he has held with distinction for the past six years. His tenure on the bench has been marked by fairness, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to justice. His colleagues selected Spiro to serve as Presiding District Judge in 2022.
A Family Man with
Deep roots in Mobile
In 2012, Spiro married Lucy Greer Cheriogotis, and together they have four children: twin sons Nick and Jack and daughters Elle and Mary Barton. Lucy serves as corporate spokesperson and Vice President of Deli/Bakery/Catering for her family business, the local grocery store chain Greer’s. She often appears on local morning shows to promote her recipes and the stores.
The Cheriogotis family is actively involved in the Mobile community. They attend St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and their school-aged children attend Mary B. Austin Elementary School. Spiro and Lucy are passionate about giving back and regularly support organizations like the Boys & Girls Club of South Alabama, Light of the Village, and the Mobile Lions Club.

Business and community experience
Spiro’s experience extends beyond the courtroom. He is a small business owner, having operated his late father’s restaurant in Dothan since 2015. This hands-on experience with business management has given him a unique understanding of the challenges faced by local entrepreneurs.
Spiro has also served on various state boards that oversee entities interacting with the judicial system. These positions have equipped him with the expertise to navigate complex issues and provide practical solutions for Mobile.

An avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman, Spiro cherishes Mobile’s natural beauty and our way of life along the Gulf Coast. When he’s not in the courtroom or working on behalf of the community, you can find him spending quality time with his family, enjoying the outdoors, and teaching his children to appreciate the simple joys of life in Mobile.
